Joseph Logan Massie is the former associate dean of the College of Business and Economics at UK. He also served the college as the first chairman of the Department of Business Administration, the first Associate Dean for Graduate Studies, and the first director of graduate studies in the Department of Management. After the publication of his textbook in 1964, Dr. Massie became widely known as an author as well as a professor. This book fundamentally changed the way management was taught and became the leading text in schools of management for many years. He received his bachelor’s degree and his master’s degree in economics from the University of Kentucky. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Chicago.
